Batwoman clearly has black paint around her eyes whenever she wears the cowl. But whenever she takes the cowl off, there's never any paint around her eyes. This happens in several episodes and is common amongst many superhero/comic book shows with masked characters. See more »

Not as good as I hoped it to be
4 December 2019 | by kevinM23See all my reviews

This show doesn't deserve 1 star like many other rage reviewed it after the trailer or the pilot, and after watching 8 episodes, it is about 4 or 5 out 10. It is just average at its best moment. I wish it was better and hope it will get better.

While I enjoyed some moments of the show, there were a lot more areas that made it difficult for me to engage in the storytelling. Set aside Ruby Rose's lack of good acting, her character was way too quick in decision making and acted out rashly and almost thoughtlessly. It largely contributes to poor writing which is my biggest disappointment of the show.

Episode 8 was such a let down considering it was supposed to be a crucial turning point that changes character directions for a lot of important cast. How it was carried through was not only underwhelming but also juvenile. There were so many incongruous jumps from one scene to another. The writers need to give Kate Kane a room to breathe and reflect and grow to the direction the story scripts. One moment she was all hope and stuff then after 20 min, she became the polar opposite. I have noticed this sort of sudden change of her character in previous episodes as well. She needs intermediate spaces to develop to a conclusion. And also please stop her from saying repetitive lines like "what did you do?" or "what are u gonna do?" to Alice, supposedly a villain. I mean come on.

The overall story is alright. It's not as bad as those politically motivated 1 stars claimed to be. It is a superhero story so usually I don't expect much from it. And like any other superhero, Batwoman has her own sob story to motivate her to do whatever she justifies she should do, and a team of friends that aid her to carry out tasks with some ease, and a love affair that aches her heart. Batwoman has all that superhero cliches and it needs to work on storytelling and strengthen writing of the show.
